Remember Susan?. Susan has been dealing with ovarian cancer for the last six years and has gone through many severe treatments and her husband Gerhard has stood by her side like a rock. Volunteers from Serve the City went out to help bring her garden to a better state so she can enjoy her piece of paradise when she’s tired and recovering from her treatments. You can read all about that in our Community Stories.
We are going back to Susan to mulch her garden. A job that’s too heavy for her and her husband but it is important as it will help keep the weeds out. Can you give us a hand?
Things you’ll do on the day
The garden is well established. It just needs weeding and mulching. We’ll be doing some weeding and we’ll put mulch down as well. Basically, just a bit of hard work and a whole heap of dirty hands!
You don’t need any experience to help out with this project. Some muscle and a bit of energy will do!
Note: this is an outdoor project and volunteers should be mindful of the weather conditions in summer. Bring plenty of water and use appropriate sun protection.
THIS PROJECT STARTS EARLY IN THE MORNING, COLD DRINKS AND SOME LIGHT REFRESHMENTS WILL BE PROVIDED.
THIS PROJECT IS SUITABLE FOR KIDS!
